Municipality of Vitacura officially hands over the concession of a renowned event center to GL events

As of this Sunday, GL events Chile now has the administration of Metropolitan Santiago, convention center located on Avenida San Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, Vitacura. The new concessionaire will seek to be an exponent in events and services, taking care of the environment and inviting the community to be part of events at no cost. Santiago, Sunday, June 26, 2022-The Municipality of Vitacura handed over the keys of the most renowned Convention Center of Santiago to GL events, who from this June 26 and for several decades will be the new administrator of the concession of the events center located on Avenida San Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, Vitacura. With the change of administration, the new convention center will be called Metropolitan Santiago, which will have a strong sustainable seal, committed to the environment and the development of the community. After receiving the venue, the executive director of GL events Chile, Francisco Sotomayor, highlighted that “we are very happy to receive from the hands of the Municipality of Vitacura the keys of our first convention center in Chile, considering that our company based in Lyon is a world leader in the management of meeting centers in the world”. And he added that “we are very optimistic that we will be a great contribution not only for the quality of the service we will provide in our corporate, social events, conventions and seminars, but also because we are committed to sustainability and citizenship. Therefore, here at Metropolitan Santiago, families, athletes and young people will have an open space in the park to enjoy activities free of charge that we will gradually implement”. In the opportunity, Francisco Sotomayor emphasized that GL events “plans to invest in the enclosure more than US$ 6.5 million in the short and medium term for its remodeling and for the implementation of sustainable measures among which stand out the use of renewable energies, which will allow energy saving and efficient use of water”. In addition, the company expects to generate some 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in the coming months. Features of Metropolitan Santiago The new world-class meeting center will have an area of 16,000 m², of which 3,200 m² are indoors, 1,500 m² of patio and terraces, as well as 11,300 m2 of esplanades and green areas for complementary activities. All this in a park of more than 51,000 m2 with a view of the Andes Mountains. With access to highways, hotels, shopping centers and only 15 minutes from the airport. For the management of Metropolitan Santiago, the executive director of GL events Chile, Francisco Sotomayor, recruited a team with outstanding experience. Among them are the executives Jaime Solar, as general manager – who for years occupied the commercial management of Movistar Arena and general management of Centro Parque; Pedro Mussa, who served as operations manager of Espacio Riesco and general manager of Vista Santiago; Pablo Abelli, in the position of senior advisor, who was one of the managers of the venue in its beginnings as well as Commercial Director of Sheraton Latin America; Javier Contreras, who for the last 5 years has been the commercial manager of Centro Parque and is currently a member of the Future leaders Council of ICCA, will also join the team in the position of Development Manager. The Communications and Marketing management will be led by Michelle Helguero, who was head of communications at the Undersecretary of Tourism and has extensive experience in audiovisual and written media as an economic and political journalist. The Human Resources management will be headed by Paulina Illanes, who in recent years was assistant manager of People at Walmart. Also, Carlos Saavedra joined the team as Key Account Manager, who was Sales Director of events and banquets at Ritz Carlton and Hotel W, and as sales executive Rossana Aguilera, who worked for more than 20 years at the Historical and Military Museum where she was in charge of the communication and extension department.
