Santiago, May 23, 2023 – Chile’s most important convention center, Metropolitan Santiago, was nominated as the “South America’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre” at the World Travel Awards (WTA). These international awards, also known as the “Oscars of Tourism”, recognize excellence in all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. And in the first instance, continental ceremonies are held, which then lead to the global awards, in which Chile already has a long history. The nomination was celebrated by the general manager of the venue, Jaime Solar, who pointed out that “Metropolitan Santiago is a world-class convention center and since its construction in 1993 in Chile, it has hosted more than 30,000 national and international events, countless exhibitions, seminars and congresses and large and important corporate events”. Jaime Solar said that it is no coincidence that our convention center, managed by GL events in Chile, has been nominated in the category as the leading meeting center in the region because it has several attributes that would make it worthy of the award, considering that it is located in the capital of our country, which was also nominated as the best destination for hosting international congresses and conventions. “Metropolitan Santiago has a privileged location with excellent connectivity to highways and the international airport, which is the only one in Latin America with flights to Oceania and the South Pacific, making it the gateway from Asia Pacific to South America. It is also close to hotels – Santiago has more than 14 thousand rooms in 4 and 5 star accommodation services – it is near the financial center, in a safe environment, has 12 multi-purpose rooms and a 12,800 mts2 park with a beautiful view of the Andes Mountains” said the general manager of Metropolitan Santiago. On the occasion, Jaime Solar made a call to join the campaign #VotaporChile and thus support not only Metropolitan Santiago but also the other categories nominated in the World Travel Awards. “We want to count on your support and put Chile on the map, so as to contribute to the development of meeting tourism in the country, which undoubtedly generates a contribution to the economy and employment.” How to vote for Chile in the WTA South America 2023 You can vote and help Chile in its different nominations until July 9 by following these steps: 1.
