GL events, the new concessionaire of the world-class meeting center located in the Vitacura district, will seek to be an exponent in events and services, taking care of the environment and inviting the community to be part of events at no cost. In the celebration of the French Week in Chile 2021, new version of the French-Chilean Chamber of Commerce, the general manager of GL events, Francisco Sotomayor, announced the awarding of the concession of the venue located in San Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer 5600, Vitacura, which will be called Metropolitan Santiago Convention and Event Center from July 2022. GL events signed an agreement for the concession of Metropolitan Santiago, the main event center of the commune that has six hectares of green areas and will provide a renovated world-class space for more than 700 events per year. “Metropolitan Santiago Park comes at a time when we are emerging from a health and economic crisis, and we know that the international economic environment is particularly disturbed. It is important that these types of initiatives exist to offer new perspectives, providing incentives for sustainable development. We are facing great challenges, and we hope that this project will present the sustainability we are looking for today,” said the French Ambassador to Chile, Pascal Teixeira Da Silva. The new space, which will be designed mainly for mass events and commercial exchange, will also seek to maintain a close relationship with the people. “We will have an important integration with the community, with a remodeled park for citizens to enjoy green areas, as well as the generation of cultural, sports, educational events and activities, free of charge,” said Sotomayor. In addition, the site will create a thousand jobs annually and will generate a direct impact in the region of US$ 23 million for the administration of the site, in terms of hotels, transportation, commerce and gastronomy. It will also reduce energy consumption by more than 200,000 kWh per year and reduce water consumption by more than 10 million liters of water. “GL events seeks to create here a concession that will benefit the community, the future. Here we are leasing a piece of the planet, and the least we can do is to deliver the piece of land in the same state or improved, because what GL events is going to do is to improve the situation of this convention center and transform it, giving a turn towards sustainability. The project that is coming will be very good for the environment”, emphasized Emmanuel Riffaud, President of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Chile. Marcela Siri, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability of Loreal Chile, highlighted that “we find this project incredible because it has a transversal view, integrating relations with the community, the environmental world and employment. We need more places like this, especially for companies like Loreal, which seek sustainability in everything we do, and why not also bring it to the world of events? We hope to see soon the arrival of this new administration and what they will do”. CONCESSIONAIRE COMPANY GL events was one of the first Chilean companies to sign the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles, promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women in the workplace, in the marketplace and in the community. To date, it already has more than 100 events confirmed for the second half of 2022, such as the COPPER World Copper Summit, World Gastronomy Bocuse d’Or, Expo Hospital, Expo Andes and Pastry World Cup, among others. “Our main objective is to promote sustainability, energy efficiency and circular economy. Today we must be part of the change in the world of marketing and meetings, always thinking about our planet. That is what we seek at Metropolitan Santiago and GL events, and we invite you to be part of the transformation of this space for the benefit of people,” concluded Sotomayor.
Concha y Toro, one of Chile’s most prestigious and internationally recognized wineries, entered into an alliance with Metropolitan Santiago so that all those who attend its events can access preferential discounts on the tours offered by the renowned winery.
The international fair and congress Expo Andes, to be held between October 12 and 14 in Metropolitan Santiago, will bring together professionals, companies and institutions of tourism and mountain safety in South America, to analyze the progress, conflicts and development of the industry.
